Trip dates and a little information about Esperanza

Hi members, friends, and family of FCCB,

I just wanted to give you all some basic information about our Mexico trip before we leave.

Our trip dates are: August 15-21. We will be commissioned at church during the worship service on August 15.

We will be working with an organization called Esperanza International. Esperanza is an organization that helps people living in Tijuana, Mexico build homes and community. The families pay for the entire cost of their homes, and labor on the houses of their neighbors several days a week. They also prepare lunches for the volunteer groups. Esperanza also works with the families to develop the community with things such as a tortilla cooperative, a health clinic, and teaching the women in the communities to make purses out of recycled materials. Volunteer groups stay at a compound, called the "posada" (which means inn in Spanish) and work along side the families during the week.

First Posting

Hi members, friends, and family of First Congregational Church!
This blog is where you can read about our first trip across the Mexican border to work with Esperanza International. Thank you for the love and support you've given us, and the prayers that have sustained us and brought us to where we are. We love you and look forward to sharing our experiences with you here, and when we get back.
